The Sleep Indicator

Travian makes me laugh; no really. According to the picture on the right, I have 6:04:46 hours to sleep tonight. If I oversleep for more than 4 min my troops will starve-unless of course I move them to another village (i.e. my capital). But that won’t be happening since I just sent a bunch on raids.

1. Reduce the quantity of attacking troops so you have a better chance at destroying whatever is sent at you.

2. Create bargaining power.

3. Scare off raiders; If scouts don’t come, that’s usually a good sign that something’s up.

4. You can leverage the upkeep the owner is paying for his troops. Chances are s/he will want their clubbies back, especially if it’s all they have and the server just started.

5. You can protect your settlers and senators by trapping them in your friend’s traps. Just make sure the village doesn’t get cat’ted.

4 Things to Do When You Are Short on Culture Points

Before I begin, let me make it perfectly clear that everyone is always short on the points they need to expand. For this reason, this article is for everyone who wants more than two or three villages.

· Build Structures that are high on Culture Points: Each building contributes toward your daily point accumulation. By building the town hall, embassy, main building and academy you significantly increase them. You want to bring these buildings up to their maximum level as soon as possible. The town hall is a little on the expensive side, so only bring it up to as high as you can justify spending the resources on it.

· Hosting Parties: Running small and eventually big parties in your town hall is one of the best ways to get more culture points. You should be running a party in every single village once per day. It took me a little while to figure this one out, but I never regretted hosting a party.

· Build less troops: In order to have the resources to host parties and upgrade key culture generating buildings you may need to build less troops. If you chose to do this it’s your call, as you may be opening yourself up to a successful raid or attack.

· Chief villages: Building three settlers, founding a village and building it from the ground up is considerably easy. However it doesn’t make your point accumulation go up as fast as if you were conquer a village that was already contributing 600 – 800 culture points per day.

These four points will get you through the dry spells in Travian when you are wishing that you had the culture points lined up to build or conquer another village.

So it seems in order that when you go from 25K population to ZERO in just over 2 days there should be a few lessons to be learned. In the spirit of passing these on, I’m going to have a “Top X Things” I learned from that account, where X is 15.

We don’t have to be talking about money for this to be true (okay, some people will disagree with that )…

The more you attack with, the less troops you lose. Now I know that axemen don’t really defend properly. But take a look at this completely unfair slaughter.

Whenever you’re not going to be at the computer for a long period of time, do yourself a favor and put ALL your troops in one village with ALL your defense…that way if someone attacks you either they loose a lot of stuff, or they lose nothing (and you don’t either).

You know when a player is getting either very frustrated or just about to quit, because they’ll attack with “Everything I’ve got!”

You see, the thought process goes something like this:

World War I & II history always fascinated me … especially the Maginot Line and how the Germans went arou

nd it (I mean duh, right?) on stormy night and surprised the French on the other side.

I’ve found the Italian server in Travian to work the same way. For some reason around 4:00 AM (Italian Time) the server is very laggy. If you ask me, that’s probably one of the best times to attack… unfortunately thats also when a perfect sequence of attacks tends to get mixed up and go all wrong.
